Youth wellbeing online

Thursday 1130

Younger New Zealanders are overwhelmingly online, and are heavy users of social media. Around one in five Kiwis will experience some form of mental health problem in their teens, and around one in six will experience serious depression at some time in their lives. The good news is we are seeing the emergence of new tools and new methods of engagement to help younger people (and the rest of us) manage their mental health – both offline and online. In this session we will look at some of the initiatives which are in play and invite attendees to share their views on what more could and should be done.

  1. Hi there I am new to net hui, hi all. I’m not too sure if this is the right place to post this, but I’ll post it here anyway. I have been developing a programme around internet safety for vulnerable IT users, this includes children and special needs adults. I have coined it ‘Safety Net’. If anyone is interested in knowing more please let me know.
