The uptake for data journalism has been slow in New Zealand newsrooms compared to overseas. Journalist-programmers have become a norm in most American newsrooms. The session will explore why journalists need to code and how computational journalism can add value to newsrooms. We’ll also look for feedback from Nethui community on what kind of news applications/interactive(s) are of real value to readers. Also, how wider developer community can collaborate with journalists to create better stories.
