Community supporters

NetHui 2014 wouldn’t exist without the support of a large number of Community Supporter organisations who participate in the creation of NetHui to make it a diverse, cross-sector event. If you would like to become a Community Supporter of NethHui 2014, contact ellen@internetnz.net.nz.

InternetNZ is a charitable organisation that works for a better world through a better Internet. It strives to promote the benefits and uses of the Internet while protecting its potential. It does this by funding research and work to better the Internet, working with Government to ensure that legislation does not inhibit the Internet’s development and working with all stakeholders for an open and uncaptureable Internet.

Creative Commons Aotearoa New Zealand provides free licences that allow people to share their copyright works for sharing and reuse. We also support the uptake of these licences, particular in government, universities, schools, heritage organisations and public funding bodies.

The 2020 Communications Trust is a registered Charitable Trust established in1996, initially to fulfil a variety of digital literacy projects and obligations set out under the Wellington City Council’s InfoCity project. Since then, the Trust’s reach has expanded nationally via a number of highly acclaimed initiatives – each has a particular focus on empowering people to use ICT as a pathway to engage more fully in the communities, their countries and in today’s global village.

The Institute of IT Professionals is excited to be supporting NetHui, where the online community comes together offline to discuss anything and everything internet. We believe Nethui is one of the most worthwhile events in New Zealand.

Kia ora! Tangatawhenua.com loves to build indigenous platforms and design digital tools that can connect, empower, motivate & inspire. By working with whanau, hapu, marae, trusts and iwi, we have found out 3 important things. 1 – that relationships are just as important as the technology; 2 – our tamariki & mokopuna know more about the devices than we do, which means that the adults/pakeke have to share knowledge with each other just to catch up, and 3 – that simple is best, but getting there is often very complex. We are based in Rotorua yet live online, and our kaupapa centres around aroha, matauranga and tino rangatiratanga. We are TangataWhenua.com. Nga mihi nui.

Rural Women New Zealand is a charitable, membership-based organisation which supports people in rural communities through opportunities, advocacy and connections. It is the leading representative body promoting and advocating on rural health, education, land and social issues, and provides information, support, practical learning and leadership opportunities.
