Media release: Programme finalised, community excited!
InternetNZ has announced that the programme for this week’s NetHui event has been finalised with an array of exciting, thought provoking sessions, panels and keynotes. The programme in its entirety can be found on the NetHui website http://2014.nethui.org.nz/programme.
InternetNZ Chief Executive Jordan Carter says he is very excited about this year’s programme and the New Zealand Internet community has really come together brilliantly to produce another top notch event.
“We’ve got Minister Adams delivering a keynote, the Privacy Commissioner will be talking about the right to be forgotten online and we’ll have panels featuring MPs, Facebook policy makers, and Public Address’ Russell Brown. Finally we’ll have Rod Drury closing the three day gathering.
“But the really great part about NetHui is the array of sessions put together by the Internet community. People from all over the country have put their brains together and come up with sessions on topics as diverse as digital currencies, privacy, government surveillance and data journalism.
“There will be something for everyone at this year’s event,” said Mr Carter.
For the first time this year InternetNZ and Catalyst introduced fellowships to aid participants in getting to the event who may have otherwise missed out. The demand for those had been high, showing how in demand NetHui is.
“NetHui is New Zealand’s premier Internet event, and with the speakers and panellists coming from around the world, this year’s edition will have a real global feel.There are still a very small number of registrations available, so we’d advise anyone considering going to get online and register.”
