Internet Wahine / Girl Geek Dinner

Monday 8 July 2013, 6.00 – 8.00pm – Civic Suite

Come to the Internet Wahine / Girl Geek Dinner

“We’re really excited about announcing the awesome ladies who will be speaking at our Girl Geek Dinners at Nethui on July 8th.

Our first speaker is Merrin Macleod who will talk on her recent work organising Wellington’s Rails Girls, a free weekend event open to all enthusiastic girls and women.

Merrin makes internet at Rabid, is technically a full-time design student, and is full of crazy ideas about making things better for people. She organised Wellington’s first Rails Girls workshop at the beginning of June and will explain to you why Rails Girls is great, why it’s kind of problematic, and what other steps need to take place towards achieving her ulterior motive of a diverse, welcoming and successful technology industry.

Our second speaker is Natasha Lampard. Natasha is the mother of an event called Webstock, a start up called Lil Regie, a dog called Bird and three tiny humans called Belle, Harry and Xanthe.”
